Click here to see photos and videos from the 2011 Race to Save Lives The race brings attention to and awareness about United Hatzalah of Israel. United Hatzalah is an independent, non-profit, fully volunteer Emergency Medical Services organization that provides the fastest and free emergency medical first response throughout Israel. United Hatzalah's service is available to all people without regard to race, religion or national origin. The goal of United Hatzalah is to have a trained and fully equipped volunteer within 90 seconds of every Israeli, thus increasing the number of lives saved. In order to accomplish this United Hatzalah needs to recruit and train more volunteers, increase the number of defibrillators available to its volunteers, and expand its ambucycle fleet.
The goal of the Race to Save Lives is to sponsor 10 lifesaving ambucycles; each ambucycle costs $26,000. An ambucycle is a medically equipped motorcycle, capable of getting through congested traffic and narrow alleyways to arrive to an emergency within 90 seconds. Each ambucycle responds to approximately 480 lifesaving calls annually!
